with pulsed beam, to detect forward and backward scattered electrons separately.

The instrument was finaly converted to measure absolute dissociative electron detachment cross sections. There were two modes of operation: total ion collection (true absolute measurement) and quantitative Time-of-Flight mass spectrometer (relative measurement, normalized to O−/CO2.
