I am a Swiss National Science Foundation Professor at the University of Fribourg in Switzerland.

My work is in the area of low dimensional geometry and topology and in particular on Riemann surfaces, hyperbolic geometry, and Teichmüller and moduli spaces. Some of my work is related to the study of systoles. I've also been recently interested in more combinatorial problems related to random surfaces and triangulations on surfaces.

Together with Paul Turner, we've been awarded an AGORA grant to help promote dialogue between researchers and the general public. More information can be found on this webpage.

I co-organized a CUSO doctoral school in the Swiss Alps: Quadratic forms, lattices and applications.

And in 2011 there was... The hyperbolic and Riemannian geometry of surfaces and other manifolds at the Centro Stefano Franscini.
