I am a Swiss National Science Foundation Professor at the University of Fribourg in Switzerland.
My work is in the area of low dimensional geometry and topology and in particular on
Riemann surfaces, hyperbolic geometry, mapping class groups, and Teichmüller and moduli spaces. Some of my work is related to the study of systoles including aspects of curvature free estimates for curve lengths on Riemannian surfaces. Recently I've also been interested in combinatorial problems related to random surfaces and triangulations.
